If you have erectile dysfunction (ED), your doctor likely will prescribe Viagra. But Viagra is not a cure for ED, its just a temporary fix — with lots of nasty side effects. Its far better to fix the problem than just treat the symptom. And you can address the cause of ED with a simple cream.
It should come as no surprise that the cause of many ED cases is hypogonadism, or low testosterone. Fortunately, its easy to determine if this is the cause. All you have to do is get a simple blood test from your doctor.
If your test shows a testosterone deficiency, a new study shows that a topical testosterone gel can solve the problem.
In this study, the researchers wanted to find out how well 50 mg per day of 1% hydroalcoholic testosterone gel would affect ED. They followed 85 men with low testosterone levels for six months. The results were impressive.
Of the 85 men with ED, all of them showed improvement after using the gel. And those with the lowest testosterone levels showed the most improvement.
Why take Viagra if the problem is low testosterone? Viagra and other similar drugs carry significant risks. Fixing low testosterone might fix the deficiency causing the problem. Furthermore, it just might help other problems associated with testosterone deficiency, such as metabolic syndrome and heart disease. There is very little downside.
Before you begin using the gel, make sure your PSA is not high. Testosterone theoretically can fan an already formed cancer. But theres very little worry that it will cause cancer, unlike estrogen in women. You will want to see your integrative physician for help on this one (see page 7).
