Years ago, the chemical company Monsanto found a way to increase a cows milk production. All they had to do was inject the cow with Bovine Growth Hormone. However, this hormone is very similar to your own growth hormone. Even a little too much can raise your risk of cancer. In cows, it leads to significant problems with their teats. They are more likely to need antibiotics for infection.
Even with these huge problems, Monsanto has been using the hormone. But I have great news. The public outcry against the hormone has finally pushed the company to stop its use. On August 6, 2008, the multinational giant chemical corporation admitted defeat and announced it would divest or sell off its highly controversial Bovine Growth Hormone.
It has taken 14 years of determined effort by concerned consumers to see this dangerous and cruel product leave the animal farms. Monsanto fought tooth and nail to prevent truth in labeling on dairy products. Some states even went along with it and did not require milk labels to say the product came from BGH cows.
Consumers were avoiding BGH made dairy. So the only way for Monsanto to survive was to pay off politicians to ban truthful labeling!
This is a huge victory for consumers and for your health. We still have a lot of work to do against Monsanto and its genetically modified foods. But this is an important win for us. Keep up the pressure against this company by buying organic whenever possible.
