A couple months ago, I told you about a common nutrient you can buy in most any health food store that fights prostate cancer. Now there is evidence that this nutrient will also lower your blood pressure.
A 16-week study followed 31 volunteers who ranged in age from 31 to 70 years old. Anyone with a known vascular risk was excluded. The first four weeks, researchers gave the participants a placebo. Then they took a lycopene supplement called Lyc-O-Mato.
The researchers were amazed at the results. The patients blood pressure dropped by an average of 10 systolic and four diastolic points.
The scientists also tested for lipid peroxidation, which causes destruction of the critical endothelial vessel lining cells. They found that the supplement sharply reduced this dangerous chemical process and protected the cells.
Admittedly, this was a short-term study, and the target group could have also been eating other beneficial fruits and veggies. However, these numbers are amazing for such a short period of time. That is why I am becoming more fond of Lyc-O-Mato the more I read about it.
Action to take: The best way to get lycopene is by eating cooked tomato products. But if you cant get enough this way, then I strongly recommend you take Lyc-O-Mato daily. This study shows lycopene is critical for everyone — not just men. Lyc-O-Mato will protect your prostate if you are a man. And it will lower your blood pressure regardless of your gender.
