Everyone wants to look younger. Not only does it make you feel better, younger looking skin indicates a younger body. Your skin is your largest organ. When its healthy, it helps keep the rest of your body healthy. So to look younger, Ive known of a way to do it without expensive facials and mud baths.
Two clinical trials were performed on healthy women, aged 35-60 years old. All the patients had to have some degree of facial sun damage.
In the first study, researchers had the women apply the test cream to one side of their face once daily for two weeks.
The other study looked at diet alone. It included 31 non-smoking female volunteers with normal weight. The researchers asked them to eat only the diet provided to them. It was rich in antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Evaluations included weight measurements and clinical evaluations of their skin by an expert grader, silicon replicas, digital photos, and self-assessment questionnaires.
The results of both studies showed overall, significant improvement in sagging, puffiness, and crows feet wrinkles, along with better ratings from self-assessments. Better yet, the findings showed that combining the treatments – the healthy diet as well as topical delivery of antioxidants – may improve skin health even more.
Ive seen the diet side work in my own patients. Those who eat a good diet, rich in antioxidants, invariably have the best skin. While I think skin creams are great, I do not think you need to spend the money. Skin creams wont reach organs deeper than your skin. But a good diet will.
