New Honey Treatment for Wounds

You probably know that honey has fantastic healing properties. It can help you fight allergies, stomach problems, and even infections. Amazingly, sweet honey does not feed germs as does sugar. Beehives are incredibly clean. And honey can outright kill bacteria, including the dangerous methicillin resistant staph areus (MRSA) that is maiming so many Americans.

What you may not know about honey is its an oxidation therapy. It actually releases hydrogen peroxide. And it has a miracle healing ability that were just starting to understand. It can wipe out bacterial biofilms even better than antibiotics.

In fact, in July 2007, the Food and Drug Administration approved the marketing of a Manuka honey wound and burn dressing to Derma Sciences. Its called Medihoney Dressings. You can easily get them from Amazon.com and at many pharmacies. Manuka honey has strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. However, do not feel limited to this one variety. Any raw, organic honey will have some degree of anti-infective and anti-inflammatory properties. Please do not get your honey from commercial sources. It must state clearly RAW and ORGANIC.

If you get a scrape or wound, apply the honey directly upon it a few times a day. Then cover it with a bandage. The honey will keep down bacterial growth while it controls inflammation from the injury.
